Staying Fit On Holiday: Vacation Style

Staying Fit On Holiday: Vacation Style

Happy Friday Suvskiers, and happy November. If you’re like most people and myself included, going to the gym is the last thing you want to do on vacation. Instead, incorporating long walks, online workouts, and no excessive eating is more realistic. Indulge, but no overindulging. We ask ourselves the same question before a trip, “Will I get an 8am gym session in during my vacation?”

We understand that most of us are not looking for a visit to a nearby gym by our villa but still want to stay relatively fit and active. Here’s how travel and fitness can still coexist during your vacation.

1. Jog or Walk 10k Steps

Visiting a new city and exploring the streets is great, but it’s even greater with a pair of running shoes. Instead of taking an Uber from Point A to Point B, opt for walking instead. It’s totally doable to hit 10k steps while checking out new sights, especially in a big city with lots to do. For cities where roads aren’t pedestrian friendly or point B is way too far, jogging in the beach or a park is a better option to avoid road pollution.

2. Online Youtube Workouts

This is a Suvski favourite. Grab a mat or place a towel on the grass and turn on your favourite Youtuber. Our favourite channels are Daisy Keech, Kayla Itsines, and Lilly Sabri. The best part is - you don’t need to look good. Do it in your pyjamas or whatever you feel comfortable in. But you will feel good after. Alternatively, Tik Tok provides workouts as well.

3. Indulge But Don’t Overindulge

We understand how much you want to try all the cuisines you had planned in the city. Definitely go for it! That’s what vacations are for. But do it in a way where it’s balanced. Perhaps for breakfast and lunch opt in for something lighter, whereas in the evening, have that Wagyu burger and cheesy fries. This way you won’t feel the guilt of overindulging but just the right amount where you still get to munch on those saved restaurants on Instagram.

4. Take It Easy On The Alcohol

Vacations are for unwinding, and a strong cocktail can be a great way to relax, but moderation is key. Alcohol can leave you feeling sluggish if consumed too much which isn’t ideal if you want to keep that vacation energy up. Consider swapping heavy drinks for lighter options such as a glass of wine or mocktails, and stay hydrated in between. That way, you’ll enjoy every sunset with a clear head and wake up ready to take on another day of exploring.

Staying active on vacation doesn’t have to mean sacrificing relaxation or enjoyment. With small, easy-to-keep habits, you can have the best of both worlds—fitness and fun. So go ahead, explore, indulge, and take it easy; a balanced vacation is the best kind.

Till next week Suvskiers, have a lovely weekend xx
